At the function of awarding the 1st “Kumar
Gandharba National award” to
Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, the then Hon Minister,
Information and Culture, and the presently
the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee promised to arrange
for a piece of land at Tollygunj in the
city of Kolkata for ‘Srutinandan’
and allotted the land for the institution
on lease, almost free of charges.

The name ‘Shrutinandan’ was
registered under the Societies Registration
Act of West Bengal.
»
Hindustan Lever Ltd, part of the larger
corporate body Unilever, initially donated
Rs. 10 million through the kindly offices
of the then Chairman Shri Susim Mukul Datta.

Late Srimat Swami Sadananda Brahmachary,
the spiritual Guru of the founder, Pandit
Ajoy Chakrabarty and, Smt Chandana Chakrabarty,
the Principal of the institution, laid the
foundation stone of the building.

M/s Mackintosh Burn Ltd kindly consented
to erect the building at cost price.
»
As a combination of efforts and well wishes,
the state of the art building of the institution
